Water Outage
Water fails in two different ways, and they need different answers. Either the supply stops, which is a storage problem, or the supply becomes suspect, which is a treatment problem. Storing water is cheap and almost impossible to get wrong. Treating it correctly requires knowing what you are actually trying to remove, because filtration, purification and distillation do not do the same job and are not interchangeable.
If you are on a private well, a water outage is usually a power outage wearing a different hat: the pump stops when the electricity does. That connection is why the guides below cross into the power pillar rather than staying tidily inside water.
Work out the volume first. A household figure calculated from real people, real days and real consumption is far more useful than a number of jugs somebody suggested online.
